Parks, cemeteries and public spaces are receiving extra care and attention ahead of ANZAC Day to ensure the region looks its best for the 2026 commemorations.
Bundaberg Regional Council is undertaking a coordinated program of works with special attention given to key locations expected to experience higher visitation, including the Bundaberg General Cemetery.
Each year, the cemetery commemorates the lives of veterans who have passed through a poppy-laying ceremony.
Council’s preparations include detailed gardening, grounds maintenance and cleaning works to ensure each site is presented with care and respect.
Natural Resources and Environment portfolio spokesperson Cr Gary Kirk said the preparations reflected the community’s deep respect for those who had served.
“ANZAC Day is one of the most important days on our national calendar and we are committed to ensuring our memorial spaces are presented with the care and dignity they deserve,” he said.
“Our staff have been working diligently across the region, carefully planning and timing gardening and maintenance activities to ensure each site is at its best for the community to gather, reflect and pay their respects.”

Council thanks the community for joining in commemorating ANZAC Day and encourages residents and visitors to attend local services.
