Fresh look complete for Bundaberg Airport runway

Bundaberg Airport’s runways have received a fresh lease on life, with maintenance works now complete following a major pavement rejuvenation project.

The Bundaberg Regional Council upgrade involved the application of a specialised surface treatment known as Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) rejuvenation, helping to protect and preserve critical airport infrastructure for years to come.

The works were carried out across the airport’s runways, taxiways and light aircraft areas, with construction carefully staged to allow the airport to continue operating throughout the project.

The treatment helps seal early signs of wear, improves surface performance and extends the life of the pavement, ensuring the airport remains safe and reliable for the thousands of passengers and aircraft movements it supports each year.

The runway refresh forms part of Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining essential transport infrastructure and supporting the region’s connectivity.

Funding for the project was supported by the Commonwealth Government through the Regional Airports Program Round 4.
