Since July 2022, yourtown has been part of the Bundaberg CBD community, supporting young people, job seekers and local employers to create pathways towards education, training and employment.
The not-for-profit organisation delivers Transition to Work and Inclusive Employment Australia services, supports people through career planning, training pathways, job search assistance, employer connections, work experience opportunities, non-vocational supports and ongoing employment support.
yourtown’s office provides an accessible and welcoming space where young people, job seekers, employers and community partners can connect and access support.
It’s something Regional Manager Cheryl Graffunder said was an important aspect of the team’s presence in the region.
“Being located in the CBD allows us to be easily accessible to the young people, job seekers, employers and community partners we support,” she said
“The central location helps us build strong local connections and makes it easier for people to access our services.”
Every day the yourtown team welcomes people through its doors, helping them build confidence, explore opportunities and take steps towards greater independence.
The organisation also works closely with local employers to help meet workforce needs while strengthening connections between job seekers and the broader business community.
Cheryl said the strong sense of collaboration was a huge part of being involved in the local business community within the CBD.
“Working together creates opportunities for local people and helps our region continue to grow and prosper,” she said.
Safe spaces campaign supported by yourtown
yourtown is also proud to support Bundaberg Regional Council’s Safe Spaces, Thriving Places campaign, which celebrates the important role local businesses and organisations play in creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive city centre.
The campaign aligns with yourtown’s own commitment to helping people feel respected, valued and connected within their community.
“We share the campaign’s vision of creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive community for everyone,” Cheryl said.
“Many of the people we support benefit from environments where they feel respected, valued and connected and we are proud to contribute to initiatives that strengthen community wellbeing.”
For those who haven’t visited the Bundaberg CBD recently, yourtown encouraged locals and visitors to experience what the city centre has to offer.
“Come and see the energy and opportunities the Bundaberg CBD has to offer,” Cheryl said.
“From local businesses and community events to welcoming public spaces and services, there is always something happening.
“The CBD continues to evolve and remains a great place to connect, work, shop and explore.”
