A new business has opened in Bundaberg’s CBD and it is bringing more than just good food to the table, with Primal Carvery set to add fresh energy and activity to the town centre.

Located at 31 Targo Street, Primal Carvery offers another reason to visit the CBD, with generous meals, traditional favourites and a menu designed to cater to lunch and dinner crowds seven days a week.

For owner Angela Patroney, establishing the business in the heart of Bundaberg was about finding the right location while also contributing to a town centre that continues to evolve.

“We believe a vibrant CBD needs a diverse mix of businesses that give people reasons to visit throughout the day and into the evening,” she said.

That commitment to creating a welcoming and active town centre aligns with Bundaberg Regional Council’s Safe Spaces, Thriving Places initiative, which champions a CBD where people feel comfortable visiting, shopping, working and spending time.

Angela said local businesses had an important role to play in creating that atmosphere.

“Sometimes it’s the little things – lights on, doors open, people coming and going -that help make a town centre feel alive,” she said.

Primal Carvery is particularly well placed to build on the history of its location, with 31 Targo Street having been part of Bundaberg’s CBD for more than a century and fondly remembered by many locals as the former home of Pedro’s Chicken Carvery.

Angela said the new business had been developed with that history in mind, respecting the memories attached to the premises while introducing something fresh.

“Rather than attempting to recreate what was once an iconic local food establishment, Primal Carvery pays homage to that history while bringing something new to the table,” she said.

The menu will feature traditional roast beef, pork and lamb served with a choice of vegetables, chips or salad, alongside chargrilled steaks, seafood, slow-braised meats, schnitzels, freshly prepared focaccia rolls and a variety of salads.

There will also be plenty for those with a sweet tooth, including handmade cake cups, beignets, cinnamon scrolls, as well as a unique selection of Primal shakes and jelly juices.

Whether it’s a quick lunch, a takeaway dinner for the family or a sweet treat, Angela said she hoped the business would become a welcome addition for CBD workers, shoppers, residents and visitors.

She said one of the most rewarding parts of establishing Primal Carvery had been connecting with the community and hearing their memories of the premises.

“It’s lovely to be creating something new in a place that already means something to the community,” she said.

Angela added she was looking forward to playing a part in the Bundaberg business community and encouraged locals to rediscover the CBD and support those investing in its future.

“Come back and have a look!” she said.

“Our CBD has a lot to offer, from long-established local businesses to new ventures finding their feet.

“Every visit, every purchase and every recommendation helps support the businesses and people who invest in our town centre.”
