Local bus operator Kinetic has opened applications for the next round of its Moving Communities Fund, offering grants up to $10,000 plus in-kind support to not-for-profits, sporting clubs and schools making a difference in communities across the Bundaberg region.
Organisations across Bundaberg play a vital role in supporting communities – but rising costs and increased demand are making it harder to deliver that impact without support.
To help with this, Kinetic has opened applications to its Moving Communities Fund.
From youth mentoring and inclusive sport to food relief and homelessness support, the fund helps scale the work of organisations responding to real needs on the ground.
“Our drivers and depot teams are part of the fabric of communities, and they often tell us about the amazing work local groups are doing,” Kinetic Executive General Manager for Central Queensland Marcia Shield said.
“The Moving Communities Fund is our way of backing these grassroots efforts with practical support that helps them achieve even more.”
The fund provides one-off grants of up to $10,000, along with in-kind support such as free travel, volunteer time, or promotional space.
It supports organisations that champion youth and disadvantaged groups, promote equity and inclusion, respond to pressing local needs through non-political, community-based solutions, and align with Kinetic’s commitment to social and environmental sustainability.
Since launching, the fund has supported 18 grassroots projects across regional and metro Australia, enabling practical solutions and uplifting communities often overlooked in traditional funding cycles.
In Bundaberg, Kinetic has supported Special Olympics athletes and their families to travel to inter-club competitions across Southeast Queensland, Gladstone and Mackay.
The funding helps cover transport costs, making it easier for more athletes to participate in overnight trips and stay actively involved in inclusive sport.
The fund continues to welcome strong applications from organisations working to make a local impact.
Matthew Campbell, Kinetic Managing Director (Australia), said the second year of the program built on strong foundations following its first round in 2024.
“We’ve had a fantastic first year with the Moving Communities Fund across Australia, supporting organisations across the country addressing very real community challenges,” he said.
“This second round builds on those relationships and allows us to go even deeper in backing the groups doing incredible work on the ground.
“Whether it’s $1,000 to help a regional footy team get to their next competition or larger support for a youth program facing tough times, we want to continue showing up for those who show up for their communities every day.”
Applications are now open at wearekinetic.com/community and close July 31.
Successful recipients will be announced in late August.
