Move more with fresh, fun fitness classes

Round two brings even more variety with new activities including canoeing, BounceFit table tennis and even an introduction to kite surfing.

Be Active Be Alive is back for round two with a fresh mix of free fitness classes for everyone at parks, pools and other venues across the region.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s popular fitness program kicks off on 13 October with almost 200 classes scheduled across nine weeks.

Round two brings even more variety with new activities including canoeing, BounceFit table tennis and even an introduction to kite surfing.

Council’s Community Liveability, Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Councillor Carmen McEneany said the program continued to grow in popularity.

“Be Active Be Alive is all about making movement accessible, social and fun,” Cr McEneany said.

“Each year we see more people getting involved and this round we’re excited to offer even greater variety including unique new activities that we’ve never featured before.”

This year’s program also includes familiar favourites like boot camp, dance fitness, BoxFit and Circuit as well as outdoor activities including pickleball, yoga and mSwing.

Aqua-aerobics sessions will run at pools at Norville Park, Kepnock State High School, Isis War Memorial (Childers) and Gin Gin.

“The fifth week of the program has a bumper schedule, with 40 free classes running as the parks and other venues program enters its final week and aqua fitness classes at pools get underway,” Cr McEneany said.

“While entry fees apply at local pools, everything else is free and most sessions don’t require prior registration,” she said.

“It’s a fantastic way to get out, get active and connect with others!”
