It was a wet weekend in the Bundaberg Region with more than 130 mm of rain recorded between Friday and Sunday.
The heaviest falls were experienced on Saturday with 99 mm, followed by more than 23 mm on Sunday.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the high totals come from conditions driven by a broad surface trough and humid tropical air mass moving over Queensland.
Showers are expected to continue today before conditions begin to ease, with the return of sunnier skies from Tuesday.
Bundaberg Regional Council Mayor Helen Blackburn said while the rain had been welcomed in some areas, it was also an important reminder to remain prepared.
“After a significant rainfall event like this, conditions can change quickly, particularly if further showers develop,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“Always check the Bureau of Meteorology’s warnings page for the most up-to-date official weather warnings and advice.
