Celebrating culture, community and Harry Sunn

Harry Sunn – Lunar New Year 2026.

The region’s Lunar New Year celebrations were held over the weekend, with the event showcasing meaningful traditions for local families.

A much-loved tradition at Bundaberg’s Lunar New Year event is enjoying the Chinese fortune cookies, which are kindly donated by local resident Harry Sunn.

Harry has been an integral part of the Lunar New Year festivities since 2006, sharing his knowledge of traditional lion and dragon dancing and supporting the PCYC Dragon and Lion dancers.

The community shared many heartfelt messages on Facebook about Harry and his generous donation, including:

  • Good job Harry!
  • Thank you Harry & Jenny, my beloved friends
  • Thank you so much Harry
  • Good on you Harry – we miss your cooking!
  • Dear Harry, what a wonderful, kind man with his beautiful family
  • What a wonderful human Harry is. He is respected and loved by his friends
