Que Hee Street to reopen under traffic restrictions

The area was inundated by water and has remained closed to motorists and pedestrians since in the interests of public safety.

Que Hee Street will reopen on Tuesday 31 March under traffic restrictions after the road surface and culvert suffered significant flood damage.

The section of road is a popular route for pedestrians to access the Baldwin Swamp Environmental Park and East State School.

The area was inundated by water and has remained closed to motorists and pedestrians since in the interests of public safety.

Council crews have been working on temporary repairs to the road surface in addition to undertaking engineering assessments.

The reopening of the road will be effective from 9 am on Tuesday 31 March.

The road will be managed under a traffic guidance system with a 25 tonne load limit and 30 km/h speed limit.

It will be fully open to active transport.

Council will continue to undertake daily monitoring of the surface to ensure access remains safe for motorists and pedestrians under these restricted conditions.

Restrictions for Que Hee Street access:

Motorists below 25 tonne: vehicles rated below 25 tonne can access this section of Que Hee Street with speed limited to 30 km/h.

Motorists 25 tonne and above: cannot safely access Que Hee Street. The heavy vehicle detour will be via FE Walker Street, Ring Road and Telegraph Road until further notice.

Pedestrians and cyclists: the intersection has reopened fully to pedestrians and cyclists.

Council recognises that road works can cause inconvenience and thanks the community in advance for their patience and understanding.
