Residents are being called on to help celebrate what makes the Sunshine State great, with nominations now open for the 2026 QLD Day Awards and voting open for the All the Best program.
Both initiatives form part of QLD Day on June 6, shining a spotlight on the people, places and businesses that stand for what Queensland means and loves.
From selfless grassroots achievers, to local heroes and community volunteers, to our recognisable faces and organisations, the QLD Day Awards acknowledge the incredible contributors who make Queensland shine.
The All the Best campaign returns in 2026, inviting Queenslanders to vote across 15 categories, from the best bakery to the most stunning beach.
Voting is now open, with each entry giving nominators the chance to take home a massive prize pack.
Premier David Crisafulli said QLD Day was a day to celebrate what makes Queensland the best place in the world to live.
“From your local pizzeria to your favourite beach, we want Queenslanders to share what they love most about our amazing State,” Premier Crisafulli said.
“We’re also calling on all Queenslanders to help us recognise our amazing community members and organisations by nominating them as part of this year’s competition.”
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said there was no shortage of amazing local contenders the community could put forward.
“I may be biased, but the Bundaberg and Burnett region is full of legends and great places to visit, dine and relax,” Mr Bennett said.
“From volunteers and teachers to business owners and community champions, our region thrives because of the dedication and generosity of its people.
“Queensland Day is the perfect time to celebrate them and show our appreciation for the people, places and products that make our region so special.”
Mayor Helen Blackburn added that Bundaberg Regional Council was proud to support initiatives that recognised community spirit and local excellence.
“The Bundaberg Region has such fantastic community spirit and that deserves to be continuously recognised,” she said.
“We see firsthand the incredible work being done by volunteers, small businesses and community groups and this is a chance to give them a shoutout.
“Whether it’s nominating a local legend or voting for your favourite spot, every contribution helps tell the story of what makes the region such a special place to live and visit.”
Locals recognised in 2025
Of the five Queensland Day Local Legends recipients in 2025, one was based locally.
Aunty Jenny Springham has been continuing her work advocating for youth and women in the Bundaberg Region.
“I’m a silent achiever, I do what I do for my community, but I was very honoured to be acknowledged,” Ms Springham said.
QLD Day, held annually on 6 June, marks the date the state officially separated from New South Wales in 1859 and became an independent self-governing colony.
Winners for All the Best will be announced on Wednesday 3 June.
