COVID hit farming as well reducing backpackers. Agriculture based on latest figures available is still down around 800 jobs. It won’t be that these jobs are not available it will be that international backpackers are still down. Our permanent residents could pick up these positions.

Try applying for work on the Islands. I know a number of people from Bundaberg that have gotten work on offshore Islands. Try Fraser Island, Lady Elliott Island, Lady Musgrave Island, Whitsunday Islands & Great Keppel Island. Most job seekers likley never see these opportunities in a search so the competition should be lower.
I’m going to move to Mackay it almost always has considerably lower unemployment then Bundaberg. Going to go work in the mines.
There’s a substantial amount of businesses in the Kensington area that have opened surly there has to be opportunity there.
What you really want to do is keep looking for work once you have landed a job. Don’t let working full time or being knocked off centrelink stop your canvasing. The first decent job you landed is likely not the best one you could get. This keeps your resumes that have been sent out fresh & current. If you do loose your job you will get a new one faster.
I’m recommending considering going to University or using TAFE to aid you into going to University if you did not complete grade 12 or doing a apprenticeship. Bundaberg has a huge rate of people who are only going to grade 10 this severally limits there employment options. A steps or bridging course to allow you to gain the skills to get better work instead of competing with the masses that did not complete grade 12 would lead to better employment outcomes.
Impact is also able to run certain courses that might be of use. Aged care, Disability care & hospitality. These are high demand fields.
Try to keep your jobsearches high. Lets say you land a part time job this reduces the amount you have to to for centerlink points instead of letting it reduce your jobsearches keep your jobsearches high. 5 jobsearches a month is not going to get you a better job.
I’m aiming for at least 20 jobsearches a month even when I am employed.
The taxi company is always looking for taxi drivers.
Bundaberg has sizeable job growth in Health, Construction, Education & Training, Retail, Accommodation and Food Services, Transport and Manifacutring. There’s litterly heaps of jobs going.
