A popular stretch of coastline is now even easier to explore, with a 1.4 km section of pathway along Sea Esplanade officially renewed and reopened to the community.
Beginning from Dryden Street to McGarry Way in Burnett Heads, the upgraded pathway has been widened to 3 m, creating a smoother, safer and more accessible route for walkers, cyclists, families with prams and people using mobility aids.
The project involved replacing the ageing footpath which had experienced deterioration and significant cracking over time.
It also addressed underlying ground conditions to create a stronger and more durable coastal connection.
The renewed pathway improves access to one of the region’s most scenic seaside locations, providing locals and visitors with more space to walk, ride and take in the beautiful ocean views.
The upgrade was fully funded through the Works for Queensland program and forms part of Bundaberg Regional Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing community infrastructure across the region.
After living at 27 Svensson St for 12 yeard and having no success with asking the Council to fix the verge/ gutter/footpath ratio, we moved into Aged Care.
Today for a second I read Steffenson as Svensson and thought something was being done at last.
For the record we asked Cr Somerfield to come and expected him to discuss the situation with us.We never saw him but he did leave a messsge with his mother to tell us he had driven past. It was like something out of ‘Yes Minister’.
Don’t expect anything from this Council. I had one come out to have them fix a pothole in the road outside my driveway and he just told me, we don’t fix potholes. All they are doing is widen corners of streets which in my opinion leads to more accidents. As for these ridiculous scooters to be used by tourists, the only people using them are dangerous stupid people. Riding 2 sometimes I have seen 3 on one scooter. Last weekend I came into town and turned left at the roundabout by the Kennedy Bridge. My car ran into a group of approx 12 coming at me on the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD and not one police car in sight. An absolute disgrace. GET RID OF THESE SCOOTERS! Bundaberg is becoming a disgraceful place to live in.

We have lived in Alice St. Walkervale 4670 for 10 years so will also now request we get our street verge/road bitumen. The dust from it presently being mowed by Council is not healthy.
Alice St. continues from Barolin to Boundary Rd. so gets a lot of thru traffic. Thank you Council for this BRC NOW.
