Following the success of three fully booked sessions last month, the Building Our Outdoor Movement (BOOM) free canoeing sessions are set to return across the region.
Delivered by Outdoors Queensland in partnership with Bundaberg Regional Council, three new sessions will be offered between 1 and 8 August at different Bundaberg locations.
All sessions will be guided by qualified outdoor instructor Mark Cartner who holds a Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership and is certified in Swift Water Rescue.
Participant feedback shared with Outdoors Queensland highlighted just how popular the previous canoeing program was with locals.
The positive feedback included an appreciation of the local areas which were discovered, the assistance of the experienced and passionate guides and the family-friendly nature of the sessions.
“Mark, our instructor was amazing. His guidance, enthusiasm and instruction was excellent. I look forward to the casual paddles with this group in the future. Thanks again for the opportunity of exploring and learning this new skill,” one participant wrote.
“Mark and his crew were spot on with everything. I got to explore different waterways around Bundaberg and learnt a new water-based activity. I truly appreciate Mark with how clear his directions were with all the manoeuvres and different types of strokes. He was very accommodating and patient with everyone,” said another.
One participant said the “amazing” experience even helped them overcome a fear of water.
