Christmas begins with dazzling Pageant of Lights

The Christmas float parade is a beloved community tradition of the Pageant of Lights.

Bundaberg’s Christmas season is set to shine as the much-loved Pageant of Lights returns to Bourbong Street on Thursday 4 December.

The free community celebration will begin at 5.30 pm, bringing together live entertainment, festive food and market stalls.

At 7 pm, the official switching on of Bundaberg’s spectacular Christmas lights will transform the CBD into a sparkling wonderland before the parade of Christmas floats begin.

Mayor Helen Blackburn said the Pageant of Lights was one of the most anticipated events of the year.

“Year after year, the Pageant of Lights proves why it’s one of Bundaberg’s favourite traditions,” Mayor Blackburn said.

“There’s nothing quite like that magical moment when the Christmas lights burst to life and you hear the crowd’s excitement – it’s a tradition that never loses its sparkle.”

Mayor Blackburn said the talent on display across the two stages, along with the unique local gifts on offer at market stalls, would be the star on top of a wonderful celebration.

“From school choirs to dance troupes, it’s a true showcase of the creativity and energy that makes Bundaberg such a vibrant place to live.

“And those searching for that perfect present will find plenty of locally made treasures at the Twilight Artisan Market in Gallery Park,” she said.

The Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery will host their Artisan Twilight Christmas Markets in Gallery Park.

A sleigh full of Christmas entertainment

There will be plenty of entertainment on offer before the parade begins at 7 pm, with roving performances and two lively stages.

The Buss Park stage will see showcases from Encore Dance Studio, the Combined School Choir, Cane Country Square Dancers and Amy Alice Music.

The CBD Pavilion Stage will have the City of Bundaberg Drum Corps, Baylando Latin Fusion and the Caring Hearts Support Services Choir.
