The First 5 Forever Giveaway is back!

Bundaberg Regional Library First Five Forever launch

It’s time to talk, read, sing and play because the First 5 Forever Giveaway is back at Bundaberg Regional Libraries.

From now until March 2026, children aged five and under who visit their local library can collect a free new gift each month thanks to Bundaberg Regional Libraries and First 5 Forever.

First 5 Forever is a family literacy program which aims to provide strong early literacy foundations for children in the first five years.

Gifts will be available from the Bundaberg, Childers, Gin Gin and Woodgate libraries with the full collection including four books and toys exploring the First 5 Forever themes of talk, read, sing and play.

Council’s Arts, Heritage and Asset Management portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said it was exciting to see the initiative back for a second year.

“The First 5 Forever Giveaway was a great success last year, promoting early literacy by encouraging more families to talk, read, sing and play together,” Cr Learmonth said.

“Not only did we get more little feet through the library doors but children throughout the region got to enjoy some fantastic books and toys over the holiday period.

“Our hope is that we get even more young readers to our local libraries this year and that they keep coming back to enjoy all the many wonderful programs and services on offer.”

Gifts can be collected from the library counter on the first business day of each month and while stocks last with no costs or registrations are required.

First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.
