More than a quarter of a million dollars was invested back into community projects, events and activities through Bundaberg Regional Council grants last financial year.
During the 2025 – 2026 financial year in excess of $310,000 was invested across Council grants, fee waivers and event support programs.
Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn said the support benefited community organisations, sporting participants and regional events.
“Each year Council delivers a broad range of support for community organisations and sporting groups and individuals in addition to supporting the delivery or attraction of a range of events,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“Whether it’s a new mower for the Bundaberg Croquet Club, ensuring a young person can represent their sporting code or attracting a significant event to the region – there are a myriad of benefits that this type of support delivers to our region.
“We know that through our sports championships grants and the delivery of those events over $2.7 million was injected back into the local economy and more than 17,800 direct community and event participants took part in funded programs.”
2025 – 2026 grants and waiver stats:
- 22 micro grants worth $31,830.41 were approved
- 24 young people in sport applications were approved, with the maximum amount per person increased to $400. A total of $9,600 was distributed under this program.
- Council offered $60,835.67 worth of fee waivers at its venues.
- Of the different groups which apply for Council grants sports clubs made up 44.2% of successful grant applications in the financial year.
- Grants were used for events, equipment, education, projects, buildings, training and equipment hire. This financial year 64.3% of the applications were used for the purchase of equipment, providing long-lasting benefits to these groups and clubs.
