Residents are encouraged to share messages, memories or what they love about the Bundaberg Region as part of a free community arts project for Mental Health Week throughout October.
A Bundaberg Regional Galleries initiative, the Postcard Exchange program aims to connect people across Bundaberg, Childers and Gin Gin by spreading stories of local pride and belonging.
Participants can pick up a postcard from Bundaberg Regional Library, Childers Library and Gin Gin Library and add their personalised message to the back.
This can be a favourite local place, a special memory, a hidden gem or simply what you love about living in the region.
The completed postcards will then be exchanged and displayed at another library in the region.
The project aims to create a region-wide exchange of positive stories and engage participants in a simple act of connection.
Local artists featured
The postcards feature five designs that celebrate the Bundaberg Region from local artists aged under 25.
Jaide Sutton, Liam Thomson, Ayla Payne, Joyce Sun and Madeline Havea were selected through a commission process to design an original postcard responding to themes of mental health, community, place, connection and local identity.
The final designs will be revealed at the initiative launch event on Wednesday 30 September, and will be available in Bundaberg, Gin Gin and Childers libraries from 1 October.
Bundaberg Regional Council a received Queensland Mental Health Week Community Event Grant for $3,000 to support the project.
Queensland Mental Health Week runs from 3 to 11 October.
