BTR Performing Arts Academy is celebrating 20 years of nurturing creativity, confidence and community in young people through music and performing arts.
Founded in 2005 by local music educator Amanda Roche, BTR has grown from a small studio into a vibrant creative hub, now supporting over 150 students each year.
From newborns to adults, the academy helps students grow through music, movement, drama and instrumental training.
“We’ve seen shy kids find their voice, energetic kids find their focus, and all of them leave with a sense of belonging and confidence that goes far beyond the stage,” Amanda said.
“BTR stands for Believe, Transform, Rise — and that’s exactly what we see happen every day.”
BTR’s unique programs include:
- Kindermusik (newborn to 7 years)
- Musical theatre, vocal and instrumental training for school-aged children to adults
- A student teacher mentorship orogram for teens wanting to build careers in music education

Celebrating with the community
To mark its 20th anniversary, BTR is planning a special gala showcase on Saturday 9 August featuring current students and alumni as well.
This is also a time when BTR raises money for their chosen charity Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Why it matters
Over the past two decades, BTR has positively impacted more than 3,000 young lives – building not only performance skills, but also resilience, friendship and personal growth.
“In a world that’s moving fast and full of pressure, the arts give kids a place to feel seen, heard, and safe. We’re proud to be that place,” Amanda said.
