Boardwalk repairs to enhance walking spot

Riverside Park, Bundaberg, Quay Street.

Visitors to the picturesque Riverside Parklands will soon notice some minor works underway as Bundaberg Regional Council carries out repairs to a section of the popular boardwalk.

The maintenance will cover 45 square metres of walkway, located along the waterfront beside River Cruz Café on Quay Street.

Roads and Infrastructure (urban) portfolio spokesperson Cr Larine Statham-Blair said the section had naturally aged over time due to exposure to the elements and regular use.

“This section of the boardwalk has experienced wear and tear over the years and these repairs will help ensure it remains safe and enjoyable for everyone who uses it,” she said.

“These works are part of ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance public spaces across the region.”

The repair works will take place in the highlighted section above.

Riverside Parklands is a vibrant community space nestled on the banks of the Burnett River, offering scenic views, walking paths and plenty of spots to relax or enjoy a picnic.

The boardwalk connects visitors to Alexandra Park and the zoo, making it a popular route for locals and tourists alike.

Facilities in the area include exercise equipment, a playground, barbeques, toilet amenities and nearby cafés and restaurants

Repair work is planned to commence early October 2025 and will be undertaken weekdays as daytime work.

Weather permitting, work will be completed by late October 2025.
