Aspiring authors in search of a writing community are invited to join Writing Fridays every week at the Bundaberg Library.
This free, volunteer-led program runs from 10 am to 4 pm every Friday, with writers of all levels and genres invited to join.
President of the Bundaberg Writers Club Laree Champman said writers could stay for as long as they’d like with each session structured into 25-minute blocks of focused writing followed by five-minute breaks.
“Writing sessions are suitable for both beginner and established writers, offering the freedom to write without interruption, and the chance to meet and network with other writers,” Laree said.
“Whether you’re writing your memoir or the next blockbuster novel, you’ll usually find another writer there who can pass on tips or recommend where to look for advice or information.
“After all, only another writer can understand how we live with multiple imaginary people in our heads who insist we put their stories down on the page.
“You’d be among friends!”

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts and Heritage spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said the Bundaberg Library was proud to support the community writing program.
“Our region is home to so many talented people in the arts, including writers, and it’s wonderful that we can provide a space for people with similar interests to gather together and explore them,” Cr Learmonth said.
“I would encourage all local aspiring authors to join Writing Fridays – what better place to write than surrounded by all the fantastic books we have at the library and maybe yours will be the next one on the shelves!”
Laree said the club was grateful for the support of the Bundaberg Library in providing a space for the group.
“The support of the Bundaberg Library is invaluable, and the magic of Writing Fridays would never happen without their generosity in providing a separate room where we can write without distractions,” Laree said.
“Tables and power-boards are set up and are easily accessible, and the library staff are always happy to help in any way they can.”
