Local instructor Katie Laurie is inviting the community to experience the benefits of Qi Gong through free weekly classes as part of Bundaberg Regional Council’s Be Active Be Alive program.

Katie said the sessions are open to all ages and help people feel more connected in body and mind, while gently improving mobility, flexibility and strength.

What can people expect from a Qi Gong class with you?

Each Qi Gong class is a peaceful invitation to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with the natural flow of energy within you.

We begin our sessions with gentle movements to loosen the joints and awaken the body.

The practice then flows into mindful, graceful sequences that blend breath and motion, creating a sense of harmony, ease and relaxation that will melt tension away.

What do you love most about teaching Qi Gong?

So many things!

I love how the slower pace of movements cultivates deep breathing, how the gentle flows build mobility, flexibility and strength safely and how the philosophy helps create inner harmony and balance.

Who would benefit from trying Qi Gong and do they need any prior experience?

Qi Gong is a practice for everybody and every age, no experience needed!

The slow, fluid movements are gentle on the joints and muscles, making it accessible to all ages and fitness levels.

From the first session, benefits include improved circulation, a sense of relaxation in mind and body and feelings of inner peace.

What’s special about running these sessions at the Bargara foreshore?

The backdrop of the ocean’s beauty and the soothing sound of the waves amplifies feelings of calm, vitality and connection with nature.

It’s so glorious in our local area, especially this time of year!

Anything else you’d like to share with the community?

The best way to understand Qi Gong is to try it.

It’s one of those things that just works on deeper levels of our being and the power in the practice is easier to feel then to explain.

Qi Gong classes are running every Friday from 5.15 – 6.15 pm until November 14 at the Bargara foreshore timber deck.

No registration is required. Attendees are encouraged to arrive 5–10 minutes early to sign in with the instructor before the class begins.
