From guided adventures and creative crafts to free movies and games, Bundaberg Regional Council’s school holiday guide has something for everyone.

The Crackle Creature Trail

Embark on The Crackle Creature Trail, a self guided journey from Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery to Alexandra Park Zoo where you’ll explore Karen Gardam’s The Crackle, meet iconic Aussie animals and enjoy creative activities along the way.

When: Tuesday 2 December to Saturday 24 January 2026, 9.30 am to 5 pm

Where: Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery

Cost: Free

Lots on at libraries

The Bundaberg, Childers, Gin Gin and Woodgate libraries have a range of activities to keep kids busy over the holidays including reading clubs, crafts, games and movies.

Zoo keeper talks

Get up close with the experts who care for our animals every day and learn about the creatures that call our zoo home.

When: Saturday 6 December to Saturday 17 January 2026, 10.30 am – 3.30 pm

Where: Alexandra Park Zoo

The Grinch movie screening

Put on your best Christmas shirt and accessories and join the team at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre for a special screening of The Grinch.

When: Saturday 13 December, 6 – 7.30 pm

Where: Moncrieff Entertainment Centre

Make a festive bi-plane decoration

Let your creativity take flight these school holidays at the Hinkler Hall of Aviation and create a peg bi-plane ornament to hang proudly on the Christmas tree.

Kung Fu Panda 4

Bring the family to Moncrieff Entertainment Centre for a free school holiday screening of Kung Fu Panda 4.

There’s also a Kung Fu Panda 4 colouring-in competition which will be drawn on the day.

Build your own frog hotel

Build a frog hotel to take home, learn the difference between frogs and toads and discover simple ways to support amphibians in your backyard.

When: Wednesday 7 January 2026, 11 – 11.45 am

Where: Alexandra Park Zoo

Cost: $15 per person

After Dark: Frogging and Wildlife Spotting

Join Council’s Natural Areas team and special guest David Flack from the Queensland Frog Society for an easy night-time spotlighting walk.

See how our parks come alive after dark, learn about our nocturnal friends and what you can do to help them.

When: Wednesday 14 January and Wednesday 21 January 2026, 6.45 – 8 pm

Where: Meet at South Head Parklands, Burnett Heads
