Australia Day 2026: what to know before you go

Australia Day 2025
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Australia Day 2026 event will be held at Nielson Park, Bargara on Monday 26 January from 11 am to 5 pm.

As the Bundaberg Region gears up for another great Australia Day on the beautiful Bargara foreshore, here’s everything you need to know before heading to Nielson Park.

Is the event ticketed?

No tickets needed. Bundaberg Regional Council’s Australia Day celebration is free to attend and open to everyone.

What should we bring?

To stay comfortable throughout the day we recommend bringing:

  • Sunscreen, hats and plenty of water
  • Picnic rugs and chairs
  • Swimwear to enjoy the beach and foreshore activities

Can I bring a marquee or shade umbrella?

Personal marquees and umbrellas are not permitted.

These items can become safety hazards if not weighted correctly and pegging into the ground is not allowed at this location.

Additional commercial shade structures have been added this year to ensure plenty of shaded areas for visitors.

Parking

General parking is available around Nielson Park and nearby streets but spaces are limited and expected to fill quickly.

Visitors are encouraged to carpool where possible or allow extra time to find a park.

Disabled parking

Designated disabled parking will be available in the south-east corner of Nielson Park, close to footpath access.

Signage will be in place on the day.

Road closures

There are no road closures in place for this event.

However, higher-than-usual traffic is expected, so please allow extra travel time and exercise patience.
