Building work has commenced on the Bundaberg Region’s largest hotel development in more than 20 years.
A 4.5 star, internationally renowned hotel by family development company MVP is coming to Airport Drive, Kensington.
The hotel will offer a three-storey facility with 97 motel rooms for short term accommodation.
The hotel will also feature a pool, restaurant, bar, conference and events area and gym.
The project, supported by Bundaberg Regional Council’s Projects of Regional Significance initiative, will help to meet the growing demand for short stay accommodation in the region.
Council’s Hotel Demand Feasibility Study, conducted in 2025, received over 800 survey responses from industry stakeholders, visitors, hotel guests and community members.
It identified the need for an upscale hotel to support the region’s established strong foundation as a destination that has year-round appeal.
The study also highlighted that the region’s key industries, such as agriculture, health and tourism, have created strong demand for accommodation that outstrips current availability.
Council has used the study to inform its advocacy efforts for increased hotel investment in the region.
Project highlights
MVP Airport Hotel is ideally situated close to Bundaberg Regional Airport and the future Bundaberg Health and Enterprise Precinct.
This prime location makes it strategically located to offer visitors modern amenities as suits holidaying and business travellers.
Designed by local architect Tomas O’Malley, the development features three areas of accommodation with off-street parking.
Accommodation types range from standard ensuite rooms through to 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.
Room types include those designed for guests requiring accessibility and mobility features.
Guests will enjoy onsite facilities including a landscaped pool area, function rooms and gym, and the hotel will also feature a restaurant and bar.
