  • Contacting Council if discolouration continues

Please be assured that discoloured water remains safe for consumption.

EARLIER:

Bundaberg Regional Council is responding to a significant water main break in Childers, which has affected water supply across the township.

An external contractor undertaking drilling works in the area has struck a water main on the southern side of Churchill Street (Bruce Highway), resulting in a major leak.

Council crews are working to isolate the damaged section of the network and a shutdown of water will impact the entire Childers community.

Emergency repairs are being prioritised to restore water supply as soon as possible.

Council will attempt to provide limited temporary water access by interlinking parts of the network through hydrants.

However, this supply will be very limited and may not reach all areas.

Residents are urged to:

  • Use water only for essential needs
  • Run outdoor taps for up to five minutes if discoloured water occurs
  • Contact Council if water quality or supply issues persist

Council will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available and thanks the community for their patience during this time.
