Mini-maker sessions to unleash kids’ creativity

Free hands-on activities for young art lovers will be held in Bundaberg and Childers.

Beat the heat and stay cool this summer at Bundaberg Regional Galleries’ series of free hands-on activities sure to unleash the creativity of young art lovers.

Step into a world of colour, texture and design at the Mini-Makers art sessions, inspired by the Galleries’ current exhibitions.

Aimed at children aged 6 to 12, the activities include making colourful flower crowns, playful animal masks and vibrant art badges.

The Mini-Makers workshops will be held in both Bundaberg and Childers, providing plenty of opportunities to get creative.

Mini-Makers: Flower Crowns

This hands-on session is inspired by the vibrant sights, sounds and scents of Cara-Ann Simpson’s Furari Flores exhibition. 

Layer on splashes of colour and explore texture to craft a headpiece inspired by Australian native blooms.

Head home with a handmade crown bursting with personality or craft a floral gift for someone special.  

Friday 9 January at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery,10 – 10.45 am and 11 – 11.45 am and at Childers Arts Space, drop-in anytime between 9 am – 4 pm.

Mini-Makers: Mask Madness 

Inspired by the exhibitions Cats and The Crackle, this activity brings furry and feathered creatures to life.

Using colour, fabric and thread, participants will transform into critters that can hop, stalk and prowl around the gallery.

Friday 16 January at Childers Arts Space, drop-in anytime between 9 am – 4 pm.

Thursday 22 January at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, 10 – 10.45 am and 11 – 11.45 am.

Mini-Makers: Badge Lab 

In this hands-on session, participants can design and craft their own artistic badges inspired by the vibrant works in the gallery’s exhibitions. 

Meet the cheeky creature-characters of Cats and The Crackle or be inspired by the blooms of Furari Flores.

Young makers can then show off their one-of-a-kind creation on their bag, shirt or hat.
