Residents move it together in 2025

One of the highlights of 2025 was the Move It Expo, which attracted more than 1,500 people and featured 40 stalls showcasing sporting clubs, fitness providers, community groups and health services.

Locals continued to embrace healthy, active lifestyles in 2025 with thousands taking part in council-supported events that focused on movement, wellbeing and connection.

One of the highlights was the Move It Expo, which attracted more than 1,500 people and featured 40 stalls showcasing sporting clubs, fitness providers, community groups and health services.

The family-friendly event gave residents the opportunity to try new activities, speak directly with providers and discover the wide range of sport and recreation options available across the region.

The Be Active Be Alive program also experienced great participation numbers, with more than 4,000 people getting involved throughout the year.

The annual program delivers a series of free or low-cost activities designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities to be more active, whether through walking groups, fitness sessions, come-and-try days or community challenges.

Community, Liveability, Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Cr Carmen McEneany said the popularity of both initiatives showed how residents were keen to stay active while strengthening social connections.

β€œThese events aren’t just about activity, they’re also about interaction,” she said.

β€œIt’s a chance for people to come along, try something new, meet others and realise what’s available right here in the Bundaberg Region.”

Both events are set to return in 2026 with planning for the Move It Expo now underway for a February start.

Registrations are open for local sporting clubs, fitness trainers and health and wellbeing experts.
