Dress up for the opera with La Bohème screening

La Bohème Moncrieff
The Moncrieff will transport audiences to the Metropolitan Opera with a dress up screening of La Bohème.

Dust off your ballgown and polish those shoes as the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre transports you to the Metropolitan Opera for a dress up screening event of La Bohème.

The red carpet will be rolled out on 23 May at 2 pm where Bundaberg’s best dressed will enjoy an afternoon of elegance and timeless music.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts and Heritage portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said the event was something a little different for the Moncrieff.

“This screening has some extra sparkle as we bring a touch of the Met to the Moncrieff,” Cr Learmonth said.

“It’s a great excuse to dress up and enjoy an afternoon at the opera without having to even leave town.

“There will also be secret judges positioned in the foyer and mingling with guests so make sure you strike a pose because you could also go home with a prize!”

La Bohème returns to cinemas as part of the Live in HD season

With its spellbinding setting and score, La Bohème is one of the world’s most popular operas with a story as timeless as it is heartbreaking.

Composed by Giacomo Puccini and set in 19th century Paris, it explores the world of young friends and lovers as they navigate the joy and struggle of bohemian life.

This Franco Zeffirelli production conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson stars soprano Juliana Grigoryan as seamstress Mimì alongside tenor Freddie De Tommaso as the poet Rodolfo.
