Bundaberg’s coastline will come alive this Sunday morning as the sixth annual SHIFT Automotive Christmas Charity Car and Bike Run takes to the road in support of the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.
The community is invited to decorate their vehicles in festive Christmas style and gather at SHIFT Automotive in Avoca from 7 am.
Coffee and breakfast vans will be on site before the convoy departs at 8 am.
The group will travel via Bargara to Elliott Heads where the foreshore will host a festive celebration including a food van, ice cream truck and prizes.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said it was wonderful to have the local business get behind the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal again this year.
“The Mayor’s Christmas Appeal is about bringing joy to local families who need support at this important time of year,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“Events like the annual SHIFT Automotive Car and Bike Run shows the generosity and heart of the people in our community.”
Mayor Blackburn said the event was a fun and unique way to come together and celebrate the holiday season.
“By joining in, people are not only enjoying a fantastic day out in our beautiful region but also helping other local families have a special Christmas,” she said.
SHIFT Automotive owner Kirstin Trimble said the team was proud to see the event grow bigger and better each year.
“This is our sixth year and every time it’s an amazing show of cars, bikes and people,” she said.
“We now have out-of-town people join in and locals reach out throughout the year to make sure we’re doing it again.
“It’s turned into this massive thing that we didn’t expect and we just love it.”
Kirstin said the event was made possible thanks to strong local support.
“We’re blown away by the local support, the generous donations and the other businesses who get behind us,” she said.
“All of our raffle prizes are donated by local businesses in Bundaberg and we couldn’t do it without them or without the participants.”
She added the fundraiser was a great opportunity to give back through the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.
“The hampers are so helpful to those in need and help make Christmas special for families who might otherwise go without,” she said.
“It’s really important for us to help with that.” Kirstin encouraged the community to decorate their vehicles and join in the fun.
“There’s no registration needed and you don’t need a super cool car or bike you can bring your mum and dad’s Mazda 2!” she said.
“Just come along to the workshop on Sunday morning, grab some raffle tickets and enjoy a great morning.”

No registration is required for the cruise or the gathering at Elliott Heads.
